MAGPIE  9?Bowl:  Registered as No. 40363, this design was applied for on November 14th, 1923. Magpie birds are native to most areas of Australia. Surrounding the bird is a Flannel Flower garland. Found in marigold and dark (black amethyst base glass).
A 9?bowl variation is known, having been flattened into a low, round 揻loat bowl? A dark example in this shape is shown Page 45 in the Carnival Glass of Australia book, now out of print.
It should be noted that the 9?Magpie is 搊ccasionally?found without the usual exterior pattern: Fern and Wattle. These bowls usually have 8 ruffles, but those having 12 ruffles are also known.

MAGPIE  5?Bowl: As with other patterns in Crown Crystal Glass, the layout of design changes somewhat from one size to another. The elements are the same, but placement of flowers/branches and appearance of the birds are not quite the same. There is no reverse pattern on this small bowl. They are available in both dark and marigold examples.

KANGAROO:  The small bowl was probably designed to compliment both of the larger 9?bowls, portraying some variation in the pattern. It has no exterior pattern.
Two variations in the Kangaroo design are explained: The 揝mall Roo?or 揊lying Grey?is defined by the tree branch under the roo. Edge ruffling variations exist between the two 9?size bowls, as well. The Kangaroo design was registered January 15th, 1924.
Both 9?bowls offer the same registration number, but the larger 揃ig Red?is 55mm tall as compared to 37mm height found in the 揝mall Roo?  Fern and Wattle exterior design is found on some of the  bowls, or they may offer no exterior design at all.

The KANGAROO was registered in 1924. Two 9 in. and a 5 in. bowl with design variations can be found.

KANGAROO: We do not have a photo of the 揃ig Red?to display, but certainly the marigold examples in the pattern quite adequately offer viewing of the Fern and Wattle exterior design.
Thanks to Norma Dickinson, we have a 揷lose-up and personal?view of the animal itself.

KANGAROO - Re: NEW: Late May 2007, reports of both an iridized clear glass example of the 9?bowl having Fern and Wattle exterior were provided by John & Margaret McGrath, Australia. They purchased the bowl knowing full well that it is new. There are slight variations in this new design, from that of the vintage design used by Crown Crystal Glass.
McGrath's described a light blue bowl of the same new variation listed for sale on eBay in this same timeframe. When we checked the listing number on May 25, the bids amounted to nearly $150 with days left for accumulating more interest in this new example.

TRAILING FLOWERS:  This salad bowl offers dual beauty, inside and out, with nice allover patterning. Production came somewhat later in time than many of the animal patterns, and is one of the more scarce items from Crown Crystal. Only known in marigold, the overall effect is lovely.

PIN UPS:  These marigold bowls were catalogued as 揌at Pins? It is a simple design available in two shapes and several sizes. Hat Pin bowls, more commonly known as 揚in Ups?were offered in Sydney in 1927 with a price tag of (one shilling) each.
The see-through view we offer displays the 8 groups of pins, along with the exterior 32 point star on the base. 5 lines encircle the bowl, much the same as those which appear on the 7?PLAIN BANDED BOWL from Crown Crystal Glass.

KINGFISHER:  Essentially this is the same 9?bowl displayed on page 2 - Carnival Glass of Australia having the customary 12 ruffles. Smoothed edges have extended this piece to 10?size. Bowls are also found having 18 ruffles. This plain round edged bowl is also mentioned in the book. Registration was applied for January 4, 1923. Bowls are known to lack a registration number, perhaps suggesting that the pattern was being manufactured prior to the registration date. This particular pattern portrays the bird surrounded by a garland of either wattle or gum leaves. There is no exterior pattern.

Dean & Diane Fry - 03-08

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
