CORN VASE:  These very popular vases debuted during the 1911-1912 timeframe. If you like looking at quite a few examples in one pattern, then this is certainly one to go for! The vases having a plain base are found in marigold, amethyst, white, green, ice green, lime green, aqua, Coke bottle green, black amethyst and blue!---as of late-Oct.2008.
Seems that a blue Corn Vase was 揻ound?at a local auction about 20 years ago and known to have matriculated to a prominent Texas collection where it was described as a 搊ne-of-a-kind? Question is: Has Steve found #2, or could this possibly be that first 揻ind? reportedly having a slight nick along the upper edge?
The vases displaying the husk patterned base come in marigold, amethyst, white, green, ice green, ice blue, lime green, black amethyst, aqua, teal, aqua opalescent. Notice that no cobalt blue vases have been reported, in spite of the fact that 1912 was a major production year for that color. (A gorgeous green Corn Vase with husk base may be viewed in our segment: Corny Containers.)

FLUTE:  Marigold, amethyst and green are the colors for this vase, although amethyst examples are the most difficult to find. It has a round marie, eight panels and the height ranges from 8?to 14? usually. Green vases will often have the Alaskan iridescent finish.

Squatty FEATHERS in Marigold - 6 3/8 in. tall

FEATHERS:  The design was part of the 1904 non-iridescent opalescent line. Found only on vases 6?12?in height, iridized versions first appeared in 1909, offered in the Alaskan finish (marigold iridescence on green base glass). The pattern continued in Northwood production at least through 1912 when pastel colors were introduced. Green vases having the Alaskan iridescence are the most often encountered color. Marigold runs a close second. Amethyst is actually more difficult to locate than the asking price indicates. Ice blue vases are rare and the white even more so. Most examples offer the Northwood trademark. (A squatty white Feathers vase may be viewed in our segment: White Is A Delight.)

GRACEFUL:  Circa 1908-1910, Graceful was one of the early carnival efforts. Previously a part of an earlier Northwood line called Spool, (made in mosaic (slag) and non-iridized opalescent colors from 1903-1906. Marigold, amethyst, and green are the usual colors. Amethyst vases are somewhat difficult to find. For the most part, this is an overlooked pattern. The shape is always as you see here, with some collectors placing it in the compote category. Some have an impressed star on the underside of the base, while others are plain. In production at least through 1912 and the introduction of pastels. Extremely rare examples of ice blue and white exist.

JESTER CAP:  5 ½?7 ½?tall, depending upon the shape. Four different shapes and an equal number of colors are to be found. Some are trademarked, others are not. This particular shape is more often found in marigold than amethyst, green or cobalt blue.
A cone shape is known in marigold. The four-ruffled shape is found in marigold, amethyst and cobalt. The six-ruffled shape is found in all four colors mentioned.

LEAF COLUMNS:   None of the Leaf Columns vases are easily found. We could say that they are rarely found today in any color. The pattern dates from 1911-1912, and sizes range from the 6?squat type on up to about 12?in height. The taller versions have been swung to the degree that the vague pattern is severely altered. Marigold, amethyst, green, white, ice blue, ice green, teal, and sapphire blue are known colors. (A squatty IB Leaf Columns vase my be viewed in our segment: The Pastel Side of Blue.)

Dean & Diane Fry - 7-09

For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh,
But through love serve one another.  For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this:
揧ou shall love your neighbor as yourself.?FONT COLOR="#CC9922">
But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
