From Eleanor Hamilton Collection.

PROUD PUSS:  is discussed in Hartung Book 8, page 111; called a 揷ordial?liquor set. Bottle is 10?high, base is 4?from front to back and 2 ¾?at the widest point (back), 1 ¾?at the narrowest (front). Eyes are painted white with a dash of black for iris. There is a hint if red paint around the mouth. Glass is ¼?thick. Shot glasses: 2 ¼?high, 1 ¾?diameter base, 2?diameter at the rim. Maker unknown. Courtesy Jerry & Carol Curtis.

The second photo of PROUD PUSS is from the late Eleanor and Jack Hamilton's collection. They lived in Waco, TX and were contributing members of the Texas Carnival Glass Club. This pattern is certainly not prolific among collectors. If you enjoy the unusual, this certainly is a set to strive for.

Ornamental BEE -
2.5 in. wide, wing tip-wing tip x .75 in. long..

ORNAMENTAL BEE:  Since most of us have never seen one of these, the foremost question is: when was it made? The ORNAMENTAL Butterflies are scarce enough to call them extreme rarities. (They were made and used as 搒tuck on ornaments?to basket handles.) These BEES may have been utilized in much the same way, creating conclusion that either they were broken in large numbers, or were not manufactured in large numbers? There is also the possibility they are not in the vintage class of ornament.
The underside of the body is decorated with gold and red paint. The wings are clear glass, lightly iridized with pastel shades of color. This one was sold by Richards Auction Services during one of their many past auctions. We do not know of another having sold at public auction during our more than 35 years with carnival glass.

Miniature SADIRON
Flashed Mgld. 1.25 in. long.

FLEUR DE LIS Lamp:  Pastel iridescence on light amber base glass creates a lovely result! The knob on the burner reads: ABCO, NUTMEG. This lamp predates the 1970s.

Miniature SADIRON: Tiny as this is and hollow inside, it would not weigh much, but the idea of it used as a paperweight springs to mind? Shaped, or fashioned after the old black 搃rons?which were heated over a flame and used for ironing clothes into the Depression years, this is a real collectors item.
The maker is McKee Glass.  This mini sadiron was found pictured on page 167 of the 1871 McKee Factory Catalog. Many thanks to Jerry Curtis for this new information.

HATCHET with Mgld. Blade & Purple Hatchet are each - 6 in. in length.
HATCHET with Mgld. Blade & Purple Hatchet are each - 6 in. in length.

HATCHET(s):  The one on the left in deep marigold is described in Hartung Book 10, calling it perfectly plain and unlike the 揟omahawk?which has Indian designs on it. 6?long and perhaps designed as a paperweight. The dark hatchet is of slight derivation, but possibly created for the same purpose? Not often seen among carnival glass offerings, either of these would make a clever addition as a conversation piece. Research indicates these were made by U.S. Glass.

TROPHY Toothpick:  Used as advertising items, according to the ad found in Butler Bros. Catalog, one might think more of these miniatures could be found in today's world, but they seem to be quite scarce. In company with at least one example of Cambridge seen in the ad, we assume this toothpick to be another after-market marigold piece?

BOOKER Cider Set: Since Eunice and Carl Booker found the first of these sets, reporting the 揻ind?to Bill Edwards, he in turn named the set after them! A five piece set has sold for more than $1200. One set brought only $210.

1909 Letter and it's Envelope: 揚romotionals?have been a part of retail sales since 揇ay 1? apparently. This letter proves to be interesting reading, but you will need to increase the size to at least 200% in order to fully see the print.

Dean & Diane Fry   11/09

I tell the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit,
That I have great sorrow and continual grief in my heart.
For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren,
my countrymen according to the flesh, who are Israelites, to whom pertain the adoption, the glory, the covenants,
the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises; of whom are the fathers and from whom,
according to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God. Amen    (Romans 9:1-5)
