Imperial - Part 12
IMPERIAL ?Part 12
Dugan produced a Heavy Grape pattern, used on large 10?11?bowls.
Imperial抯 Heavy Grape pattern offers bowls in sizes from 5?to 10? plates in 6攁nd 8?
chop plate, 11?12? a single-handled nappy, punch bowl/base/cup.
Fenton reproduced the 6?7?bowls in the 1970s, having obviously purchased one of the Imperial molds.
8 in. Vaseline HEAVY GRAPE Plate with Plain marie & 29 grapes.
Imperial HEAVY GRAPE with 29 GRAPES: The basic differences in the usual design having 37 grapes in the cluster are delineated in our segment: IMPERIAL HEAVY GRAPE found listed in the left column on our site homepage. Larry Ashley found this extremely rare vaseline example and it follows the customary rule of having a plain marie, just as other examples having the 29 grape cluster. There is certainly no question about this 8?plate being vaseline! It glows like crazy! This is the rarest of colors found in the pattern/shape. Question is: Do we call this a Variant?
Smoke HEAVY GRAPE 8 in. Plate.
HEAVY GRAPE Plate in Marigold 8 inch.
HEAVY GRAPE with 35 GRAPES: These two plates are rather difficult to see well enough to accurately count the grapes, (many times a 揹imple?pits the grape and flattens it out.) They have the 搒tarred marie? so that pretty well settles it.
HEAVY GRAPE 6 in. Bowl in Marigold. Sold for $825. 3-08.
HEAVY GRAPE 6?Bowl: purple, emerald, helios, smoke and green are additional colors in this size.
HEAVY GRAPE 9 inch Bowl in Light Blue Base.
HEAVY GRAPE 9?Bowl: The range of colors in this size include marigold, purple, emerald, helios, smoke, light blue, amber, aqua, cobalt blue, green.
HEAVY GRAPE Nappy in Rare Aqua.
Sold for $475. Seeck Oct. 2006 sale.
HEAVY GRAPE Nappy: This aqua example is somewhat scarce. The usual colors in this handled shape are marigold, purple, helios and olive.
Heavy Grape Chop plate in white.
HEAVY GRAPE Chop Plate: 11? 12?chop plates are found in marigold, purple, emerald, helios, amber, smoke, white, ice green, green. White examples are quite rare, with fewer than half-dozen known. Only one ice green chop plate is known. Purple examples are difficult to find.
P.O. HEAVY GRAPE 9 in. Bowl by Fenton.
FENTON OVAL in center of marie.(P.O. bowl).
Fenton HEAVY GRAPE Repro: There can be no confusion here. The color and the obvious oval trademark indicate the origin.
HEXAGON & CANE Bowl - 8.25 in.diam. Courtesy Paul Kirk
HEXAGON and CANE Bowl: Following our posting of the earlier segment discussing this pattern (-Imperial Glass ?Part 8), Paul Kirk contacted us with information and this photograph of the bowl he has owned for about six years. He found this 8 ¼?bowl at the Hartville, OH flea market in Hartville, OH. This confirms the second known example in the pattern. He also owns a sugar-without lid in this pattern.
ROCOCO Bowl - 3.25 in. high, 2.5 in. base, 6 in. opening.
ROCOCO Dome ftd. Bowl - 9 in. - Marigold. Courtesy Remmen Auctions.
ROCOCO: Imperial glass ads first appeared in the 1910 Butler Brothers Wholesale Catalog. The Rococo vase was one of the six items offered in that ad. The two additional shapes known in the pattern are shown here. The 5?6?vases in marigold, smoke and lavender are scarce. 5?6?ruffled bowls in marigold or smoke are certainly not plentiful when compared to many other patterns, but the rarest item is the 9?dome-footed bowl in marigold! We are pleased to be able to display one for our viewers.
Dean & Diane Fry ?5/10
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.
Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),
Finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.
For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.
But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.
Therefore He says: 揂wake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light? (Ephesians 5:8-14)
