Fostoria - Part 8
FOSTORIA ?Part 8
Left - BROCADED ACORN - IB - 4.25 in. tall - Seeck Auctions.
Right - BROCADED ACORN Champagne, 6 inches tall.
Left - BROCADED ACORN Candlestick - 3.5 in. tall. - Ice Blue.

Left - BROCADED ACORN Cordial, 3 inches tall.
Right - BROCADED ACORN Goblet in Wisteria with gold edging. 5.5 in. tall.
BROCADED ACORN: There is more variety shown here than we found while visiting the Fostoria Museum. Perhaps owners of the iridized examples prefer to keep examples in the confines of their homes rather than loan them to the Museum?
BROCADED DAFFODILS Divided Relish - 9 in. long.
BROCADED DAFFODILS: Please bear in mind, as we have stated previously that, Central Glass performed some of the gold edge detailing on Fostoria pieces.
BROCADED PALMS Pink Compote - 4.5 in. tall x 6.5 in. wide.
BROCADED PALMS - 12 in. Console Bowl - Candleholder - 4.5 in. w.x 1.5 in. tall.
Pink BROCADED PALMS Vase.
BROCADED PALMS: Shapes within this pattern might seem a bit more unusual?
BROCADED POPPIES, 12.5 in. Platter.
BROCADED POPPIES: While this particular plate shape can be found in most Fostoria designs, Brocaded Poppies pattern is not seen as often as Brocaded Acorn.
TAFFETA LUSTRE Fostoria Candleholder - 3.25 in. tall.
TAFFETA LUSTRE: Researching this carnival pattern on a site having more than 450 examples of Fostoria glassware, only 3 were basically black base glass. Essentially, we conclude that an overall shape/design termed ebony 揃iscayne?became what carnival glass collectors refer to as Taffeta Lustre, following the usual iridizing process found on Fostoria pieces. It would seem that should you own a piece of this pattern, it could be considered quite scarce-rare. Apparently the production was limited.

Goethe (1749 ?1832)
Unto You I lift up my eyes, O You who dwell in the heavens.
Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters,
as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress,
so our eyes look to the Lord our God, until He has mercy on us.
Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us!
For we are exceedingly filled with contempt.
Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorn of those who are at ease,
With the contempt of the proud. (Psalm 123)
