Wild Blackberry: This 9?bowl is not illustrated in Fenton Glass-The First Twenty-Five Years, which was published in 1978, utilizing glass found on display in the Fenton Glass Museum. Some of the glass on display belonged to Frank M. Fenton, while other examples were consigned by collectors. The pattern is somewhat scarce as compared to many other Fenton designs. Mrs. Hartung discussed the pattern in Book 5-page 80.
Jerry and Cleo Kudlac specialize in the pattern and offered to help us create this segment displaying the known colors and edge treatments. Wild Blackberry dates from 1910. Following use as an advertising item for (H. MADAY & Co.) in 1911, the exterior mould could not have been used beyond that time period. Amethyst and green H. MADAY examples are known. (Click here -- W -- for views of other examples in this pattern.)
Colors: Amethyst, blue, green and marigold. Exterior mold is a 12 panel with plain marie.
Ice cream shape, six ruffle, eight ruffle, candy ribbon edge and 3/1 edge treatments found on these examples would seem to indicate wide acceptance of the pattern from buyers of the period.

BLACKBERRY BRAMBLE Compote in Amethyst.
BLACKBERRY BRAMBLE Compote in Marigold - 6 in. high.
Blackberry Bramble: was given #303 as the designate design identification. The pattern was applied only to the compote shape, using amethyst, marigold, and green as basic colors. It is displayed in a Fenton Ad dated 1910.
There are striking resemblances to the Wild Blackberry design. When studying the mould designs of this time period, appreciation for the beauty of nature was portrayed by the artisans.
Dean & Diane Fry ?11/12
And again He began to teach by the sea. And a great multitude was gathered to Him厖 Then He taught them many things by parables, and said to them in His teaching: 揕isten! Behold, a sower went out to sow. And it happened, as he sowed, that some seed fell by the wayside, and the birds of the air came and devoured it.
Some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth. But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away.
And some seed fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no crop. But other seed fell on good ground and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirty-fold, some sixty, and some a hundred.?/FONT>
And He said to them, 揇o you not understand this parable?.... The sower sows the Word. And these are the ones by the wayside where the Word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the Word that was sown in their hearts. These likewise are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the Word, immediately receive it with gladness; and they have no root in themselves, and so endure only for a time. Afterward, when tribulation or persecution arises for the word抯 sake, immediately they stumble. Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the Word, and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the Word, and it becomes unfruitful.
But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the Word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirty-fold, some sixty, and some a hundred.?FONT COLOR="#FFFFCC"> (Mark 4:1-20)
