Carnival Glass 101 | home Quick Reference to Carnival Glass Patterns on This Site
Of all the producers of carnival glass, surely Fenton Glass produced more of this hat-type variety than any other! We can assume sales were tremendous, for the various patterns continued in production throughout the later years of the trend into red and white for many designs. Not only could they serve as candy dishes, but made colorful additions to desk tops, and any shelf or table top where a bit of color was needed for sheer enjoyment.

BLACKBERRY BANDED Hats in white.
(Left) - BLACKBERRY BANDED in Blue. (Right) - Mgld. over Moonstone.
BLACKBERRY BANDED: April 1912 through April 1918 Butler Brothers Wholesale Catalogs included ads displaying this hat design among other familiar Fenton patterns. These hats are not plentiful and usually are ruffled/four sides up. Amethyst, blue, green, marigold, marigold over moonstone and white are known colors. Auction records since 1998 indicate Amethyst and White to be rare colors. Since 1998 only 17 are on sales record, making this a much more scarce design than Blackberry Spray.
BRIAR PATCH in Blue. Courtesy Dave Doty
BRIAR PATCH: 4/11/13 Dean made a quick pass through a large antique mall, finding a marigold hat marked 揃riar Patch? He thought it looked more like Blackberry Spray Vt., so did not pick it up. Our more than 50 years with C.G., has never provided the opportunity to examine a Briar Patch hat. Research into its extremely rare status reveals that only two blue examples have sold in recent years; one in 2010 and another in 2012. Dave Doty抯 auction results indicate that prices in both cases were quite 搑easonable? The late John Resnick would claim this hat to be 揳nother rare-so-what? in no uncertain terms! Perhaps blue is the only color found in the pattern?
The hat has an octagonal base and the two rows of berries are separated by a stippled/textured band.
Left - Red FERN PANELS - Seeck Auctions.
Right - White FERN PANELS Ha t - 5.75 in. Reichel Auctions.
FERN PANELS: Only found on the hat shape, white examples do not appear very often! This is only the third example to surface in 16 years of auctions! Rather square, ruffled, or CRE are known shapes. Amethyst, blue, green, marigold, marigold on milk glass, red and white are known colors. A pretty marigold Fern Panels can be seen in FENTON GLASS ?Part 5. None of the colors are 損lentiful?
Mgld. FLOWERING DILL Hat with TCRE.(Left) - 6 ruffle FLOWERING DILL Hat. (Right)
FLOWERING DILL: These usually have 4-6 ruffles. The pattern is found only on this hat shape. Amethyst, blue, marigold, marigold over moonstone, red and vaseline are the colors found.

Occasionally one is found having General Furniture Advertising on the base. Amethyst, blue, green, lavender, marigold and vaseline are known colors.
Dean & Diane Fry, 6-13
And seeing the multitudes, (Jesus) went up on a mountain,
and when He was seated His disciples came to Him.
Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:
揃lessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness?sake,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you,
and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.
Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven,
for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned?
It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.?/FONT>
